The Forum builds on the work of the highly successful first CIF held in Yaoundé in November 2006. Many initiatives identified at the first Forum have already been implemented.  The Prime Minister’s Investment Council (PMIC) has met every quarter since the inaugural meeting in January 2007; three of the six PMIC working groups are taking forward actions agreed in November 2006 and I look forward to presenting the tangible outcomes to you in April.

The Government of Cameroon has always recognised that the ambitious  economic growth and development targets set by the Head of State, His Excellency Paul Biya, will not be achieved without the continued and active involvement of the private sector in partnership with Government.  CIF2 will provide a timely further step in building and cementing this growing partnership through dialogue. It will enable existing and new investors to assess for themselves the real opportunities Cameroon offers as a destination for sustainable and profitable long-term investment.

An exciting innovation of CIF2 will be the “project book” made available to all delegates in which investment projects which are seeking technical or financial partnerships will be available to enable new partnerships to be explored.

The Forum’s theme – “ Securing Sustainable Long-term Investment” provides the framework for my Government to update existing and potential investors on progress we are making on enhancing the business environment. Our aim is to put to the best  possible use the wide range of human, natural and mineral resources available in Cameroon to create sustainable growth.
